Vancouver quartet Redgy Blackout has taken a leap of faith with their first album, but need to keep jumping. The reggae-pop, jazz infused rhythms prove that the group has the talent to produce great music. The Leap starts off strong with Nothing at All¸ a track that illustrates Redgy Blackout’s drive to achieve their dreams. Followed by fun danceable track Go Getter Girl and the emotional This Chord¸ the first five songs are diverse and keep the listener interested. After S.O.S, however, everything else is filler. The beats become repetitive and the lyrical quality slips as the album goes on. The Leap is a good start for Redgy Blackout, but they still have a lot of potential to fulfill.
