The members of AMABUTHO hail from various parts of South Africa - from the dusty streets of Soweto to Kwa-Zulu Natal and Durban. They have developed their own distinctive style of music which carries on the South African tradition of melding disparate cultures and influences. Infectious, joyous, at once rhythmically primal and musically complex, it captures the spirit and optimism of its players and the nation they come from. AMABUTHO will be feature performers on the internationally televised opening ceremonies of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in Johannesburg on June 11.
