Mapamundi Música presenta: Wafir y Nasco Un encuentro musical entre Sudán y Bulgaria en Café Teatro Arenal Jueves, 29 de octubre de 2009, 23:30h. C/ Mayor, 6, Madrid. Mira el mapa El encuentro de Wafir Shaikheldin y Nasco Hristov reúne dos culturas musicales de potente personalidad: por un lado, la delicadeza y sensualidad afroárabe, con reministencias de la música de Al-Ándalus y, por otro, el vigor, el virtuosismo vibrante y la emoción desbordada de la música de los Balcanes. Al mismo tiempo son fruto de una reunión única entre personas de diferentes culturas, que germina y se desarrolla en nuestra Península. Nasco Hristov es un virtuoso acordeonista originario de Bulgaria y uno de los representantes pioneros de la música balcánica en nuestras tierras. A lo largo de los 10 años que lleva en España ha sido componente de los grupos Rodopis, Klezmer Sefardí y Cherno More, además de actuar en dúo con su hermano, el clarinetista Ivo Hristov. Nasco ha publicado recientemente su primer disco en solitario, Sueño de un acordeonista (Pneuma, 2009), en el que demuestra, una vez más, su virtuosismo y buen gusto. Por otra parte, hablar del sudanés Wafir Shaikheldin es hacerlo de 17 años de carrera en España, en los que ha pasado por experiencias tan eclécticas como la música antigua con Eduardo Paniagua, el pop celta de Hevia, el folk gallego de Luar Na Lubre, el folk castellano de La Musgaña, la música judía de Klezmer Sefardí y la rica fusión de Radio Tarifa. Incluso el pop más comercial, como Amistades Peligrosas han aprovechado su versatilidad y saber hacer. Wafir tiene además su propio repertorio, basado en su origen sudanés y su variada carrera.

The meeting between Wafir Shaikheldin and Nasco Hristov gets together two musical cultures of strong personality: in one hand, the afro-arabian gentleness and sensuality, with reminiscences of Al-Andalusí music and, in another hand, the vibrant virtuosity and the overflowed emotion of Balcan music. At the same time, it is an unique meeting between people from different cultures, that germinates and grows up at the Iberian Peninsule. Nasco Hristov is a virtuoso accordion player from Bulgaria and one of the pioneers in Balcan music in Spain. Throught the 10 years he has been in Spain he has played with the bands Rodopis, Klezmer Sefardí and Cherno More, as well as with his brother, the clarinet player Ivo Hristov. Nasco has recently released his first own album: Sueño de un acordeonista (Pneuma, 2009), that shows, once again, his virtuosity and good taste. In another hand, talking about the Sudanese Wafir Shaikheldin means talking about 17 years of career in Spain, that has gone trought so eclectic experiencies like ancient music with Eduardo Paniagua, celtic pop with, Galician folk with Luar Na Lubre, Castilian folk with La Musgaña, Jewish music with Klezmer Sefardí and Radio Tarifa's rich fusion. Even the most commercial pop, like Amistades Peligrosas' has took advantage of his versatility and know how. Wafir also has his own repertoire, based on his Sudanese background and his varied career.
