ANCIENT FUTURE - ASIAN FUSION [USA, Mundo]

Temas:
1. Prelude. Improvised in a Japanese mode.
2. Bookenka (The Adventurer). This contemporary jazz radio hit combines a Japanese mode with elements of jazz.
3. The Trader. Explores some of the musical influences a trader would have encountered along the Silk Road.
4. Mezgoof . Based on Qawwali, a Sufi devotional form of music popular in Pakistan and India.
5. The Empress. Inspired by the mix of cultures prevalent during Japan's Nara period (553-794 A.D.), this piece fuses Japanese, Chinese, and Indian elements.
6. Ja Nam. Reggae version of a popular Vietnamese folk song.
7. Sunda Straits. Reflects the chimerical beauty of this fabled ocean passage between Sumatra and Java.
8. Morning Sung. Improvised duet for Chinese flute and African talking drum, inspired by 10th century Sung Dynasty painting.
9. Sumbatico. Blending elements of Indonesian gamelan and jazz, this composition creates impressions of the "shadow world" as portrayed by Indonesian shadow puppets.
10. The Dusk Song of the Fisherman. Dating from the Ching dynasty (1644-1912), this piece describes the fishermen returning to the harbor at dusk, singing a happy song.
11. Ladakh. Drawn from the folk music tradition of Ladakh, a remote mountainous region of Western Tibet.
12. Garuda. Named for the mythical bird of Hindu mythology.
