Altai Kai- Altaian[Siberia]

La República de Altái es una de las veintiuna repúblicas que constituyen la Federación Rusa. Su capital es Gorno-Altaisk.
Limita al norte con el óblast de Kemerovo, al noreste con la república de Jakasia, al este con la república de Tuvá, al sureste con Mongolia (provincia de Bayan-Olgiy), al sur con China (región autónoma de Xinjiang), al suroeste con Kazajistán (provincia de Shyghys Qazaqstan), y al noroeste con el krai de Altái.


Musicians of the AltaiKai ensemble are virtuosos of Altai throat singing – kai. They skilfully sing all styles and variety of kai and play traditional musical instruments of Altai people. Velvety, low sounds of karkyraa, fascinating hoomey and melodious sygyt – sybysky, lively imitations of nature sounds (birds singing, purling of brook, animals voices) - also delicacy women’s singing and woman’s throat singing, melodies of khomus (jew’s harp), topshuur and accordion – all of that is AltaiKai. Traditional Altai songs about Motherland and its beauty, about bogatyrs and their past Power, about Altai people combined with joking tunes, dances and shaman mysteries. Narrators kaichy sing traditional, sacred in Altai heroic legends and eposes. All of that is AltaiKai.

Music of the Belgrade-based band Naked is rooted in jazz with the addition of different flavors. It all seams like a game, rhythm is changing constantly, in a (positive) way it is not an easy task to follow them: it is flowing spontaneous and unpretencious. There is some funk, a touch of folklore (ocasional "broken" rhythms as the reminiscence of the Macedonian ones) and kind of psichodelic - accordeon in echo, from the background, often sounding like the keyboard. And the last but not least there is a real jazz-rock violin. Inerplay is strongest impression,AND then groove.

Vasilisa - Live (2007)

Brankica Vasić is (aside from Biljana Krstić) possibly the only Serbian chanteuse who steered clear of pop-musical shallows and stodgy academicism in her interpretation of the old songs and became a star nonetheless (or maybe because of it?). She was first vocalist for Goran Bregović’s Ensemble; her song « Dreams » from the soundtrack of Emir Kusturica’s « Arizona Dream » topped the French charts for several months. Her voice appeared in Patrice Chéreau’s film « La Reine Margot » and in « Saviour », the war drama directed by Pedrag Antonijević (produced by Oliver Stone). Brankica Vasić was a member of Sanja Iljić’s Ensemble Balkanika and is a sought-after vocalist for the top Serbian ethno- and jazz bands.
She will sing only songs from Kosovo and Macedonia, together with her carefully picked accompanists, among them her son-in-law Vasil Hadzimanov (Serbia’s number one jazz pianist) and the Macedonian jazz guitarist Toni Kitanovski. Kitanovski will take the stage again a day later in the Szene Wien with his Gypsy brass band Cherkezi. Individual members of this orchestra are expected to guest at Vasilia’s performance.
